SWIMMING QUALIFICATIONS: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM 300 YARDS WITHOUT STOPPING USING FREE WITH ROTATRY BREATHING & BREAST WITH THE CORRECT KICK. SWIM 20 YARDS PICK UP A 10LB BRICK OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE POOL AT A DEPTH OF 7 FEET DEEP AND BRING THE BRICK BACK TO THE START. TREAD WATER FOR 2 MINUTES WITHOUT USING YOUR HANDS. THIS IS DONE AT THE FIRST CLASS. BE READY!!!
The course will meet on a Wednesday and two weekends. Participants are required to attend ALL CLASS MEETINGS (NO EXCEPTIONS). The first day is registration, class homework, class format & the water test. It will be from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. The first weekend the class will meet from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a half-hour lunch break on Saturday around 11:30 a.m. The second weekend the class will meet from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. on Friday & 8:30 – until the class is over on Saturday. It is required that you read over the material in the book before attending class. You will need to go to redcross.org to download book. We can tell you how.
A $150.00 nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve a spot in the class. Please stop by the McCallie Pool to leave your deposit. There is usually someone in the pool office between 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday.
